Defiance College, an NAIA institution and member of the WHAC, seeks an individual to serve as assistant coach for the men’s and women’s track and field and cross country programs. Under the direction of the Head Coach, responsibilities will include coaching, recruiting, meet preparation, practice organization, fund raising, mentoring of student-athletes, academic monitoring, managing the programs’ social media accounts, developing annual service/engagement projects for student-athletes, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must adhere to adherence to institutional, NAIA, and WHAC policies and be able to establish positive relationships and effectively interact with a variety of individuals including alumni, parents, and recruits.
A bachelor’s degree and a valid unrestricted driver’s license are required. Preference will be given to candidates who possess USATF or USTFCCCA coaching education certification, have experience in cross country/distance coaching and the ability to coach multi-events, and have previous CC/TF coaching and recruiting experience at the collegiate level. A working knowledge of recruiting databases and websites such as Frontrush and NSCA is desirable.
