Athletic Performance Leadership -Design, implement, and oversee year-round strength and conditioning programs tailored to the physiological and competitive demands of each sport. -Develop comprehensive performance plans that emphasize strength, power, speed, agility, mobility, recovery, and injury reduction. -Lead and supervise team and individual training sessions while ensuring proper technique, safety standards, and athlete engagement. -Utilize data-driven approaches to monitor student-athlete progress and adjust training programs accordingly. Familiarity with GPS/LPS systems, force plates, velocity-based training, and other data collection technology is a must. -Establish testing and assessment protocols to evaluate performance metrics and athlete readiness.
Student-Athlete Development -Foster an environment that supports the holistic development of student-athletes in alignment with CUI's mission of developing mind, body, and spirit. -Educate student-athletes on topics including nutrition, recovery, sleep, supplementation, mobility, and performance habits. -Promote leadership, discipline, resilience, and accountability within the athletic performance culture. -Support student-athlete wellness through collaboration with athletic training and sports medicine staff during return-to-play and rehabilitation progressions. -Emphasis on long-term athletic development.
Collaboration & Communication -Work collaboratively with head coaches to align athletic performance programming with team goals, practice schedules, and competitive calendars. -Maintain consistent communication with coaches and athletic training staff regarding athlete readiness, workload management, and performance outcomes. -Partner with university departments and campus stakeholders to advance student-athlete well-being initiatives.
Athletic Performance Pavilion Oversight -Oversee daily operations, organization, scheduling, and maintenance of the Athletic Performance Pavilion. -Ensure a safe, clean, and high-functioning training environment that reflects excellence and professionalism. -Monitor equipment usage, conduct routine inventory assessments, and recommend equipment repairs, replacements, and facility upgrades. -Develop and enforce facility policies and operational procedures.
Staff Leadership & Program Administration -Recruit, mentor, supervise, and evaluate Graduate Assistants, interns, and student workers within the athletic performance program. -Create staff development opportunities that promote professional growth and coaching excellence. -Manage scheduling logistics for all teams utilizing the performance facility. -Maintain accurate athlete records, testing results, attendance logs, and performance data. -Assist with budget planning and resource allocation for athletic performance operations. -Ensure compliance with NCAA (NCAA countable athletically related activities, off-season training rules, documentation of voluntary versus required sessions, risk management and emergency action plan adherence, and incident reporting procedures), conference, and university policies and regulations. Education
Required
Bachelors or better in Exercise Science or related field.
Preferred
Masters or better.
Experience
Required
Demonstrated knowledge of Olympic lifting techniques, speed development, mobility training, and sport-specific program design.
Current nationally recognized Strength & Conditioning certification (CSCS, SCCC, or equivalent).
CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
Preferred
Experience collaborating within an integrated sports medicine and performance model.
Familiarity with athlete monitoring systems, testing technologies, and data analytics.
Experience supervising staff, interns, or graduate assistants.
