About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
The Assistant Director of Facility Operations is responsible for assisting the Aquatics Director in the support of day-to-day operations of the Robson and Lindley Aquatics Center and Barr-McMilliion Natatorium/Holt Hickman Outdoor Pool. Duties include coordinating and implementing all operational, logistical, and technical efforts related to the facility/facilities. This position may assist with Football game days as well as other internal or external events on campus.
Job summary
Essential Functions:
Supervise Student and Part-Time Lifeguard staff, including hiring, training, scheduling and performance management
Assist with scheduling and coordination of outside groups and ensuring compliance with meeting all facility requirements.
In absence of Aquatics Director, serve as lead point of contact for daily pool operations and scheduling.
Assist with Aquatics Director with operations of competition; This includes setup and tear down of meet equipment, entries, organization of event and conduct of each session.
Assist the Facilities and Operstions Department with supoorting other home SMU atheltic events as well as external events on campus.

The normal schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Weekends may be required for competitions and events.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree is required.
A minimum of one (1) year of experience is required, including experience supervising students and part-time staff.
Knowledge of an NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving program, with a preferred understanding of facility operations within a Swimming and Diving program is required. Experience working in an Aquatics Facility is required. American Red Cross Lifeguard and Lifeguard Instructor certifications (including First Aid and CPR/AED), as well as CPO certification, are required. Previous experience managing lifeguards is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills. Experience with Hy-Tek Meet Manager and Colorado Gen7 is preferred.
Candidate must be available to work Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Weekend availability may be required for competitions and events.
