Overview of Athletics Strategic Initiative Intern
This position is part time working approximately 19 hours/week. Benefits do not apply. Compensation: $30,000 annually for 10 months plus additional $5,000 toward Housing. This position is part of the NCAA D2 Opportunity Grant program.
The PNW Intercollegiate Athletics Strategic Initiative Intern will provide comprehensive, cross-functional operational support to the athletics department. The position is intentionally structured as a rotational, high-exposure administrative role designed to strengthen essential departmental functions while providing the intern with practical, hands-on experience in NCAA Division II athletics administration. The intern will contribute to priority operational areas that directly support student-athlete success, institutional control, and departmental sustainability. The intern will report within the athletics department and work under the supervision of senior athletics administration, with structured collaboration across compliance, academic success, internal operations, and game day management units. The role is administrative and operational in nature and will not include coaching, instruction, recruiting, or sport-specific training responsibilities.
Duties and Responsibilities of Athletics Strategic Initiative Intern Academic Success Support
Assist with student-athlete academic tracking and reporting
Support study hall logistics and attendance tracking
Coordinate communication between academic services and coaching staffs
Help monitor PNW peer mentor program for academically at-risk student-athletes
Compliance Office Support
Assist with compliance documentation and data entry
Help track required forms, eligibility items, and educational records
Support rules education initiatives and distribution of compliance materials
Assist with monitoring logs and audit preparation tasks
Game Day & Operations Support
Assist with game day operations and event management
Coordinate transportation access and visiting team logistics support
Assist with facility setup and breakdown procedures
Assist with game day staffing (tickets, concession stand, etc)
Additional Expectations
Perform other administrative and operational duties as assigned in support of athletics department priorities and special projects.

Applicants must have experience in a related field.
Core Competencies of Athletics Strategic Initiative Intern
Must have strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills.
Demonstrated skills in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Ability to lift and move equipment and materials up to approximately 25 pounds as part of event and operations support.
Occasional evening and weekend work required based on competition and event schedules.
Limited local and conference travel may be required for game day operations, professional development, or conference engagement opportunities.
