California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), a member of the NCAA Division I Big West Conference, is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as Head Softball Coach. The Head Coach will provide a clear vision for the program that aligns with the mission and values of the University and the Department of Athletics.
Reporting to an executive-level administrator/sport supervisor, the Head Softball Coach is responsible for the overall administration and success of a competitive NCAA Division I softball program. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning and conducting practices and competitions, recruiting and developing student-athletes, managing program operations and budget, scheduling, and overseeing team travel.
The Head Coach will foster a positive, inclusive, and student-centered team culture that emphasizes academic achievement, competitive excellence, leadership development, and student-athlete well-being. The position also includes responsibilities in fundraising, alumni and community engagement, organizing camps and clinics, and promoting the softball program and the University.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as a commitment to NCAA, conference, and institutional compliance. The Head Coach is expected to collaborate effectively with athletics administration, compliance, academic support, sports performance, and sports medicine staff to support the holistic development and success of student-athletes.
This position requires the ability to meet the demands of a Division I coaching role, including evenings, weekends, and extensive travel.
