The CWU Department of Athletics supports the athletic, academic, and personal success of more than 400 student-athletes across 11 sports. The Creative Media Graduate Assistant has a pivotal role within the External Affairs team, responsible for driving the visual identity, storytelling, and digital strategy for CWU Intercollegiate Athletics.
Collaborating closely with marketing, communications, and video production staff, this position will amplify the Wildcat brand across all digital ecosystems—including official social media channels, online streams, WildcatSports.com, and live game-day video board environments. This position requires a creative storyteller who can blend strategic marketing objectives with cutting-edge multimedia content creation.
Our goal is to prepare you for a full-time career in sports creative services, athletic communications, or digital marketing by providing a comprehensive, resume-building experience.
Applicants must agree to follow all NCAA, GNAC and CWU polices. Strong communication skills, experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, excellent written and oral communication skills, a self- starter, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills are important.
This position is a two-year-long graduate assistantship with a tuition waiver and stipend. The position begins September to June each school year. Employment is contingent upon proof of admission to Graduate School at Central Washington University.
Multimedia Content Creation & Storytelling
Shoot, edit, and produce high-quality video content, including but not limited to: hype videos, student-athlete features, mini-documentaries, and social media shorts/reels.
Design creative digital graphics for game-day promotion, award announcements, recruiting materials, and corporate partner activations.
Digital Strategy & Brand Amplification
Innovate digital marketing campaigns that drive fan engagement, ticket sales, and brand awareness.
Monitor digital analytics and platform trends to optimize content performance and maximize reach.
Gameday & Live Event Production
Produce and execute dynamic visual and motion graphic elements for stadium and arena video boards to elevate the live fan experience.
Capture real-time photo, video, and social coverage during home athletic events.
Assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of creative digital assets on game days.
Oversee and coordinate undergraduate creative interns, including game-day photographers and videographers, to ensure comprehensive coverage of athletic events.
