Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: •Coaching: practice planning and game preparation to include scouting, video analysis, practice and game scheduling, organization of team travel. •Recruiting: talent identification and evaluation, correspondence, assistance with admission process •Budget development and management, including athletic scholarship allocation •Student-athlete development: mentoring to include individual and team dynamics, team rules and conduct, leadership development, commitment to safety and well-being of student-athletes •Academic monitoring of student-athletes; commitment to degree progress and graduation •Public relations: represent St. Cloud State as the face of softball in the softball community, engage in media and speaking engagements, advance relationships with supporters and local youth organizations, create effective professional working relationships with student-athletes, staff, administration, alumni, and general public •Fundraising: foster community and alumni financial support for the program, assist with University and athletics campaign fundraising priorities, engage in Department of Athletics events to cultivate and steward alumni and friends, manage program fundraising activities including special events and camps/clinics
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Progressive coaching experience, including at least two years as a head/assistant coach or equivalent applicable experience
Evidence of ability to manage all aspects of a collegiate softball program
Evidence of ability to recruit talented student-athletes to Division II program
Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations
Commitment to academic success of student-athletes
Evidence of a valid driver’s license, or ability to acquire a legal driver’s license or qualify for a reasonable accommodation
Evidence of demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree at time of application
Experience coaching at the collegiate level
Familiarity with recruiting and scouting software
Familiarity with strength and conditioning philosophy and techniques
Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication both orally and in writing
Evidence of strong organizational skills, including basic accounting practices
