Under the supervision of the Athletics Director/Deputy Director of Athletics, the Head Men’s Basketball Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects and management of a competitive NCAA Division III men’s basketball program.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:
•Support the academic success of all student-athletes and demonstrate a strong commitment to their personal and professional development. •Assist in the planning, management, evaluation, operation, and coordination of all aspects of the men’s basketball program. •Supervise and organize practice sessions, game-day coaching operations, scheduling, and team travel. •Maintain proper and appropriate discipline among students during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off campus. •Supervise the assistant coaching staff. •Actively recruit prospective students of the highest quality in order to contribute to the program’s success. •Engage in team fundraising activities and alumni engagement events. •Take advantage of professional development opportunities for personal and professional growth, as well as further success of the men’s basketball program. •Attend campus, conference, regional, and national meetings as necessary. •Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, City University of New York (CUNY), CUNY Athletic Conference, John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA Division III) policies and procedures. •Coordinate travel arrangements for tournament travel, assigned budgets, program planning and forecasting, including team building and community outreach programs. •This position will require night and weekend work, and overnight travel to away games or tournaments. •Bachelor’s degree and five years’ full-time related experience required. •All other duties as assigned or needed.
Master’s Degree Preferred
Motor Vehicle Driver’s License valid in the State of New York
Must be certified and maintain certification in First Aid and CPR/AED
Experience in hiring, supervising, and training support staff
Excellent customer and staff relations skills required.
