Northern Michigan University (NMU) seeks an experienced, visionary, and highly motivated Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach to lead a comprehensive Division II lacrosse program that plays a critical role in elevating institutional pride, enhancing the student-athlete experience, and advancing the university's competitive success. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Coach is responsible for directing, organizing, coaching and administering the Women's Lacrosse program. The Head Coach will oversee assistant coaches, ensuring alignment with NMU's mission, departmental priorities, and NCAA/GLIAC regulations. This position represents a pivotal leadership opportunity for a collaborative, student-focused coach who is committed to competitive excellence, character development, and fostering a high-performing environment that supports both athletic achievement and student-athlete well-being while contributing to NMU's broader strategic goal.

Discipline/Degree Area:
Required Specialized Training/Certifications: NCAA learning portal proficiency, or passing within one month of hire. Possess a current CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
Required Minimum Work Experience: Demonstrated successful lacrosse coaching experience as a head coach or an assistant coach at the professional level, the NCAA Division I, II or III level, or as a head coach at the NAIA, junior college or high school level. No prior involvement with NCAA major rules violations. On- and off-campus recruiting of student-athletes.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
Knowledge of NCAA, conference and NMU compliance rules. Strong leadership abilities to mentor and develop student athletes. Ability to use various computer software applications including video editing systems. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills. Time management skills. Ability to assess situations, identify problems, and implement solutions. Ability to work effectively under stressful and high-pressure situations. Ability to establish a good rapport and effective working relationship with student athletes, coaches, assistant coaches, administrators, college faculty and staff, alumni, professional colleagues, and the general public.
