The University of Oregon Football Performance Nutrition team is seeking a Football Sports Nutrition Fellow to support the Oregon Football program. Under the guidance of the Director of Football Nutrition, the fellow will gain hands-on experience in Division I football/collegiate athletics. Their focus will be on sports nutrition operations, performance fueling and education. This is a temporary, and hourly-paid position (40 hours/week at $15.55/hour). It requires a flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Please note, benefits are not included.

Responsibilities: This role encompasses responsibilities in foodservice operations, performance nutrition, and education. Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
Operations & Logistics •Oversight of football fueling station including inventory management and ordering •Supporting practice and lift sessions with smoothie prep, snack tables, and recovery nutrition setup •Organize catering/vendor orders and set-up, as needed •Assist in management of product inventory: including ordering, receiving, and storing
Performance Nutrition & Education •Create engaging nutrition education content (visuals, handouts, and digital materials) •Managing taste-test snack creations to promote nutrient-dense foods •Assisting with data collection as it pertains to sports nutrition •Supervising training table meals •Supporting and co-developing presentations and resources for student athlete education •(If RD credentialed) Meeting with 5–10 football student-athletes individually to provide individualized nutrition counseling related to training, competition, recovery, injury, illness, weight management, hydration, and travel •Assisting with game day nutrition •Monitoring hydration status and design individualized hydration protocols based on sweat rate and cramping risk •Stay current on research, trends, and best practices in sports nutrition •Performing other duties as assigned to support the Sports Nutrition Department
Leadership & Collaboration •Overseeing student intern training, scheduling, and education •Contributing to team meetings and strategy planning for football fueling and nutrition services
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or related field
Registered Dietitian (RD) or RD-eligible with ability to obtain RD credential within 3 months of hire
Previous experience in sports nutrition and/or foodservice
Creative thinking and problem-solving skills with an innovative approach
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time with limited supervision
Maintain professionalism
Ability to work as part of a team and possess a friendly demeanor
A strong interest in sports nutrition
Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
Ability to work a non-traditional work week; including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Nutrition or related field
Previous experience in the collegiate football setting
