Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Principal duties include serving as the junior varsity coach to include practice and skill development sessions and will have some responsibilities with the varsity program. Will assist the head coach in scouting, talent assessment and recruiting in order to reach optimal roster numbers. Will be expected to help with field work and maintence. Will help monitor and support the academic success and retention of student-athletes. Will provide training, direction, and encouragement in preparation of student-athletes in teambuilding, team strategy, and sportsmanship. Will analyze player performance and instruct student athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. Individual will be expected to be a positive role model for student-athletes and have a commitment to the College’s mission and values. Other duties may be assigned by the head coach (i.e. assisting with fundraising, planning of camps/clinics, participating in Champions of Character initiatives, social media, sports marketing and statistical assistance). This position is exempt with regard to FLSA overtime provisions. This position is covered by the NSCPA negotiated agreement.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree plus coaching experience required. Must have knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations. Ability to work in an environment where the education, welfare, and graduation of student-athletes receive primary emphasis is strongly preferred. Strong communication, administrative and organizational skills are also strongly preferred. Should be able to work effectively with a diverse student population, many of whom are first generation college students. Prior playing experience is preferred.
