Cardiff Metropolitan University and Archers Basketball (WBBL) is offering playing opportunities for select former US Collegiate Basketball players, as well as rising undergraduate players, that were significant contributors during their collegiate playing career.
Great opportunity for UK or Dual citizens playing in US collegiate basketball or a potential undergraduate student looking to transfer to play in an international setting.
Job Description:
24-month contract for the 2026-27 season and 2027-28 following performance review.
Employed by Cardiff Met University as a basketball sportsperson and encouraged to be enrolled / accepted onto a post-graduate course as a part-time student.
Basketball sportsperson role contracted for 1 season with option to renew.
Final payment and contract details are subject to confirmation and university salary scales.
Scholarships available in cash award up to £5000.
Will be required to obtain a Level 1 and/or Level 2 UK coaching award upon arrival.
Will be an ambassador for the Cardiff Met Archers – appearances at public events within schools and assemblies in the wider community in South Wales and attend club and university related events.

Dual Career Athlete Policy support through TASS.
Athlete Lifestyle and Education manager available for 1:1 and team sessions encompassing the student-athlete experience and managing off-court and on-court responsibilities.
Team sports psychologist sessions for team preparation & season planning.
4-5 team training sessions weekly + 1-2 individual/ group sessions weekly.
2 games weekly – 1 university game on Wednesdays and 1 national league game on weekend.
Video review sessions including game preparation and team /individual feedback.
Priority:
Dual citizen - British passport holder - no VISA required - qualifies right away for Pro team - Super League
NCAA Division I / II (starting 5 or within rotation of top 8 players)
Positional needs:
Point Guard - 5'7" - 5'9"
high level of physicality and competitive / quickness / ability to score at all 3 levels. Good IQ with solid TO to assist ratio
Shooting Guard/Small Forward - 5'10" / 5'11"
high level of physicality / can post-up small guards but has a very solid 3-point shot (over 33% in career stats)
Post - 6'1"-6'3"
high level of physicality / competitor - can run the floor - good in PnR read and low post / short corner moves.
Compensation:
1-year contract - £13,261 pro rata (around £1,105/month pre-tax for 10 months), includes waived tuition for part-time/full-time study.
Sportsperson would be responsible for rent, airfare and Visa cost for Non-Dual Citizen / British Passport holder.
Other Playing opportunities include:
Post-grads who will fund some of their studies and have a sports scholarship to play for our CMU BUCS team - (NCAA D3 level).
Scholarship: PG International is a £5,000 cash award over one year plus a £3,500 tuition fee reduction.
