The Assistant Women's Basketball coach must have a clear understanding of NCAA Division III rules and philosophy, a commitment to recruiting, developing and graduating quality student-athletes. This individual will be responsible to assist the head coach in all coaching duties including, but not limited to, planning and facilitation of practice sessions, game preparation, recruiting, and scheduling.
The position reports directly to the Head Women's Basketball Coach and includes housing, meals and is paid by a monthly rate.
Responsibilities Assist Head Coach in managing all phases of a NCAA, Division III Basketball program with specific responsibilities outlined below:
Teach proper technique and skill development to student-athletes in all positions. Instruction of physical health, team concepts, team development techniques and safety. Educate student athletes on NCAA rules and regulations of a Division III program Monitor student athlete academic progress Understand, support and embody team's overarching philosophy as developed by Head Coach. Assist planning practice Assist game planning for each opponent Scout opponents by analyzing video Assist in recruitment by: update database, send out mailings, provide weekly recruiting schedule, regular contact and correspondence with qualified prospects Works in conjunction with the Head Coach to encourage the development of psychological, social, and mental skills necessary for the student athletes to be successful in the classroom and in future endeavors; Perform athletic department duties as assigned by the athletic director. Such duties may include: game day management, facility supervision, intramural supervision, sports information assistance and other duties as assigned. Expectations: Uphold the high professional standard of conduct expected of each person on campus as outlined in our Employee Handbook. Build positive interpersonal relationships in and out of the athletic department by attending College functions, both social and professional; staff meetings; faculty meetings; serving on committees; etc. Each Assistant Athletic Instructor will be evaluated in part by the successful utilization and outcomes of the student athlete program learning outcome matrix. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree is required Ability to successfully impart knowledge and motivate learning in student athletes. Preference will be given to former college players Ability to identify and recruit student-athletes to selective liberal arts colleges; Sport specific knowledge in all positions; Strong interpersonal communication skills; Strong organizational and time management skills; Ability to work in a team environment; Certified in or ability to be certified in CPR/AED; and Certifiable to drive for College business (clean driving record required).
