Associate Director, Athletics Communications The University of Akron Akron, OH 44325
Essential Functions: •30% Design and maintain media guides, game programs, and departmental websites. •20% Update, maintain, and report conference/national level statistical records using a computerized statistical program. •20% Respond to requests from media regarding local, regional, and national level events. Travel with teams to handle media relations while serving as an intermediary between the University's athletic programs and the media/public. •15% Monitor and post on team and department social media platforms. •5% Nominate and promote University teams, coaches, and players for conference, regional, and national awards/honors. •5% Write and submit information for the press in local, national, and regional publications. •5% Manage the scheduling and payroll functions of the statistics crew for game day operations/management.
Additional Position Information: Education: Requires a relevant Bachelor's Degree.
Experience: Requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in public relations and media communications for athletic events. Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and desktop publishing capabilities required. Ability to record and interpret sports statistics required. Knowledge of all sports and related NCAA rules and regulations is required.
