The Assistant Athletic Director supports the Athletic Director in the daily operation, administration, and advancement of Hargrave Military Academy's athletic programs. This position plays a key role in ensuring efficient athletic department operations, supporting coaches and student-athletes, coordinating events and travel, and promoting a positive experience for all participants.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coordinate athletic participation and sport sign-ups for all athletic seasons (Fall, Winter, and Spring).
Assist with the planning, organization, and execution of all home athletic contests, including game-day operations, facility preparation, and event staffing.
Coordinate transportation, meals, lodging (when applicable), and travel logistics for athletic teams competing off campus.
Assist with scheduling, communication, and administrative functions within the Athletic Department.
Maintain accurate records related to athletic participation, eligibility, rosters, transportation, and departmental operations.
Support coaches and cadet-athletes during in-season and out-of-season activities, practices, and events.
Assist in the management, inventory, distribution, and maintenance of athletic equipment and uniforms.
Help ensure athletic facilities are properly prepared, maintained, and secured for practices, competitions, and special events.
Serve as a positive representative of Hargrave Military Academy and promote the mission, values, and standards of the Academy.
Foster and maintain effective working relationships with cadets, coaches, faculty, staff, parents, officials, and visiting teams.
Respond appropriately and professionally in situations and follow all established safety and emergency procedures.
Attend departmental meetings, staff meetings, professional development activities, and Academy functions as required.
Assist with special athletic events, tournaments, camps, recruiting visits, and other departmental initiatives.
Ensure compliance with Academy policies and applicable athletic association rules and regulations.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Qualifications
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as required by athletic schedules.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to supporting the educational and developmental goals of student-athletes.
Experience in athletics, athletic administration, coaching, event management, or a related field preferred.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including but not limited to the ability to lift fifty (50) lbs. and walk or stand for long periods of time.
Hargrave Military Academy is a boarding/day school serving boys in grades 6 to 13 (middle to high school to post-grad).
