The Fan Experience (FanX) Graduate Assistant/Associate will report to the Associate Athletic Director - Operations, and assist in coordination of all fan experience, marketing, and promotions efforts for Murray State Athletics. This is a learning based position(s), fostering growth for career readiness upon departure from Murray State University.
The Murray State University Athletics Department (MSUAD) is currently seeking qualified candidates for graduate assistant/associate positions within the Fan Experience unit. This position will assist 1 full-time staff members and 2 other graduate assistants in the coordination and execution of fan experience efforts for 15 varsity sports, special events, and external events. GA’s are expected to perform a 2-year responsibility and Associates would be a 1-year position with the Department option of renewing to a second. Specific responsibilities/duties are included but not limited to:
•Assist with modernized marketing, promotions, game production, FanX and gameday experience platforms throughout all sports. •Develop, Coordinate, and Implement in event production, game marketing & promotions, event timelines, PA Scripts, in-venue entertainment, time-out coordination, and activation of sponsorships. •Serve as the primary FanX liaison for assigned sports. All staff will work Football & Men’s/Women’s Basketball Events. •Assist with contact and management of the Winner’s Circle, Murray State Athletics’ official student section group. •Enhance student attendance through Winner’s Circle, SGA, Greek life, Residential Colleges, Registered Student Organizations, and SAAC ensuring strong and collaborative relationships. •Coordinate marketing materials and ancillary content for use on social media platforms, print/digital materials, and in venue promotions •Develop, Coordinate, and Manage video board content and design elements when necessary •Collaborates with creative/communications/video staff to ensure video board and in-game elements are brand consistent and all items are fully operational ahead of events •Provide leadership in recruiting, training, and overseeing gameday student staff •Supports special event programming put on by MSU Athletics and external rentals •Assists w/ budget management, promotional ordering, and inventory of promotional items •Opportunity to gain experience with hosting MVC championships, NCAA Championships, and other special events. •General Office Duties •Other duties as assigned.
Compensation Package Will include a combination of tuition waiver (GA Only) and/or monthly stipend not to exceed a pre-determined allocation. Additional compensation over the summer months will be determined at the discretion/need of the athletics department. Housing may be provided but not guaranteed. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Passionate, dedicated, hard-working and organized with excellent written/verbal communication skills and a strong desire to pursue a career in athletic event operations. Superior integrity, ownership, accountability and responsibility. Prior experience in athletic event/facility operations. Familiar with NCAA procedures and protocols. Extra consideration will be given to qualified in-state applicants. Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in related field.
Preferred Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree Required. Relevant experience in fan experience, marketing, promotions, revenue generation/sales preferred. Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external constituents.
GA: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Sports Management or related field. Written documentation of admission into Murray State University Graduate School required. Position must maintain required graduate course-load and remain in good academic standing. Must be willing to work long hours including nights, weekends and holidays in addition to weekly office hours scheduled by supervisor, around University classes.
