This position is for a Sports Performance Graduate Assistantship at St. Mary’s University. St. Mary’s University Athletics is a NCAA Division II program that has 12 competing men’s and women’s sports as well as a varsity Esports team. The Graduate Assistant for Sports Performance works under the supervision of the Head Sports Performance Coach.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Representing St. Mary’s University
Assisting with the administration and leadership of the Sports Performance department
Providing coaching and instruction during training and practice activities
Program annual training plans for assigned teams and/or athletes
Communicate regularly with Sports Medicine staff about injured athletes' workout modifications and/or restrictions
Assist with the supervision of Work-Study employees to keep the Fitness Center clean and organized
Communicate regularly with sport coaches about training plans for assigned teams
Assisting with social media graphics, planning, and posts
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must possess:
Bachelor’s degree
Previous Sports Performance knowledge on the collegiate level
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Good interpersonal communication skills
Good computer skills (experience with TeamBuildr preferred)
Good social media knowledge
Demonstrate:
Positive attitude
Ability to resolve issues independently
Ability to maintain positive working relationships with a diverse group of athletes

Must be able to bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, twist, balance, and work at a desk, to include pushing and pulling cabinet drawers. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and respond to visual and aural cues. Must have manual dexterity to be able to operate the following equipment: computer, gym equipment, and telephone. Requires the ability to distinguish letters or symbols and eye/and coordination. Must be able to tolerate areas containing second hand smoke and an environment with moderate to loud noise levels.
