Essential Job Functions:

• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people
• Assist in organizing, preparing, and conducting practices, trainings, and competitions;
• Successfully recruit student-athletes in accordance with all Centre College, Southern Athletic Association, and NCAA rules and regulations;
• Assist in directing appropriate aspects of the team;
• Assist with the holistic development of track and field student-athletes;
• Represent the program and the College to students, parents, alumni, and the general public;
• Assist in managing the daily operations and administration facets of the track and field program;
• Actively participate in department-wide initiatives;
• Secondary duty to be assigned;
• Contribute to the overall success of the program and the department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Head Coach, Director of Athletics, or designee;
• Demonstrate an appreciation for and sensitivity to an inclusive academic community, fostering a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff from all social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree with previous collegiate experience as a player or a coach required;
• Previous collegiate coaching experience preferred.
• CPR, AED, and First-Aid certifications will be required upon employment;
• Valid driver’s license required prior to employment – and maintained throughout.

Knowledge and Skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of the sport of track and field and its rules; ability to foster a team environment;
• demonstrated coaching skills in sport of track and field;
• knowledge of travel, planning, and scheduling;
• commitment to the NCAA Division III philosophy of athletics;
• high integrity and ethical standards are required, along with enthusiasm for the mission of Centre College and Centre Athletics;
• knowledge of NCAA and SAA rules and regulations, and a demonstrated ability to successfully recruit, retain, and mentor student-athletes are essential;
• Additional qualifications include communication skills that allow for the ability to teach, motivate, and counsel student-athletes effectively as well as being self-motivated, positive, energetic, eager to teach, and a willingness to travel. 
• Ability to foster a team environment as well as the ability and desire to work successfully within a team-oriented athletic department is essential.
• Fully embrace and practice the department’s priorities of Recruit, Educate, Train, Compete, and Inspire.

Physical Requirements:

• Moderate physical activity.  Requires handling up to 50 pounds.                                             
• Standing and or walking for more than four hours per day. Ability to drive a car.  Visual acuity to view a screen. Work, as appropriate, nights and weekends.
