Role: The Head Coach is responsible for providing Christian leadership principles to a winning program within the framework of the mission of the University and the Intercollegiate Athletic Department. In addition, the head coach is to establish an environment in which student-athletes develop as well as mature spiritually, academically, socially and athletically with the purpose/goal of each performer and team reaching their maximum potential. The Head Coach will also embrace rules education and develop an environment where documenting rules compliance is a part of the culture. All activities of this position are to make a contribution to the fulfillment of the mission of the University and the Intercollegiate Athletic Department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each of the below duties satisfactorily:

1. To lead and develop the program within the framework of the mission of the University and the Intercollegiate Athletic Department.
   1. Read and follow all provisions as outlined by the Policies and Procedures Manual of the University and the Intercollegiate Athletic Department. Respond to all administrative correspondence in the requested timeframe and attend all staff meetings.
   2. Assist a projected yearly budget and stay within the budgeted allotments as set by the athletic director and Institution.
   3. Know the rules and regulations of the NCAA and conference to ensure compliance with departmental, University, conference and national policies.
   4. Has knowledge of game rules and Conference/NCAA regulations and implements these rules on a consistent basis.
   5. Within the framework of NCAA policies, recruit prospective student-athletes who are of the level necessary to be successful academically and athletically.
   6. Ensure student-athletes are positive Christian representatives of the University at all times.
   7. Promote unity within the Athletic Department by working in cooperation together and by supporting all University personnel
2. To establish an environment in which student-athletes develop as well as grow spiritually, academically, socially and athletically.
   1. Maintain the development and welfare of the student-athlete as the number one priority of the program.
   2. Ensure academic success, focusing on classroom achievement and graduation requirements.
   3. Provide leadership that promotes positive Christian attitudes and good sportsmanship with all student-athletes.
   4. Work with student-athletes in a fair, understanding, tolerant, sympathetic, and patient manner.
   5. Students will receive instruction and spiritual guidance that will lead to positive values, acceptable behavior, and self-discipline consistent with the philosophy of athletics. Motivate team for maximum performance by utilizing motivational philosophies that meet the needs of the students and that are consistent with the Athletic Program philosophy.
3. To develop, establish, and maintain a winning program within the framework of the mission of the University and the Intercollegiate Athletic Department.
   1. Display good sportsmanship in relationship with students, staff, officials and opponents as consistent with NCAA policies regarding the principle of sportsmanship and ethical conduct.
   2. Maintain up-to-date information of sport regulations, rule changes, and NCAA policies.
   3. Responsible for submission of yearly budget to Athletic Director and keep current on all team expenditures to ensure compliance with team budget.
   4. Maintain and submit all required conference and NCAA lists, forms and records on time as instructed by the Compliance Office.
   5. Develops in each athlete a respect for University property and its care.
   6. Works with the Athletic Director in setting goals and objectives for the Athletic Department. Acts in a wise and prudent manner when the Athletic Director is not available.
   7. Assists in the recruitment and selection of staff personnel and in the development of roles and responsibilities.
   8. Effectively manage time in a demanding work environment.
   9. Adhere to all institutional, conference and NCAA bylaws and regulations.
   10. Ensure the physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes.
   11. Establish and ensure a safe environment for student-athletes.
   12. Understand and agree to abide by the mission of the Athletics Department.
4. Perform all other duties and/or responsibilities as needed and/or as assigned by the athletic director and/or University administration.

Education and/or Experience and Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; and one to two years of related experience and training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience working in a secondary-level athletic environment is preferred.
• Previous coaching experience at the high school or NCAA level is preferred.
• Current CPR certification required
