UMW Athletics is seeking qualified individuals to apply for the Full-Time Assistant Women’s Basketball position. This position serves as the Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach with responsibilities, including, but not limited to, recruiting, scouting, travel arrangements and on court coaching. This individual will have the knowledge and the ability to perform and manage a variety of administrative duties including additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Excellent management and organizational skills. Extensive computer skills using Microsoft Office applications. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to locate inefficiencies and make corrections. Ability to work without supervision. Ability to effectively interact with students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Ability to supervise individuals effectively.

Job Summary/Basic Functions
We're looking for a passionate individual to join our dynamic organization as a Women's Basketball Assistant Coach. The Assistant Coach will assist in managing and directing the women's basketball program by performing responsible program building, including but not limited to; planning, coaching, recruiting, and assist in teaching PHYD 404. In addition, will be responsible for administrative duties within the department as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Work is performed under general supervision of the Head Coach as well as the Director of Athletics and performance evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.
Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications
A proven record in following directives and being responsible for tasks which have been assigned.
Ability to adhere to all policies, rules and regulations of the university, the Coast to Coast Conference and the NCAA.
Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities.
Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions, and other outcomes.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
Ability to communicate effectively - orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.
Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
Ability to represent the department and University in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
Must be willing to travel and be available to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as required.
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with UMW policies.
Required Experience:
Experience playing on a college basketball team.
Experience as an assistant basketball coach.

Knowledge of management methods and ability to provide administrative guidance within area of responsibility and provide direct training and supervision as needed.
Ability to recruit, coach and teach highly talented student-athletes.
Ability to scout opponents and break down game film.

Ability to attend seminars, meetings and other professional development opportunities at or away from UMW.
EDUCATION
Master's degree in physical education, exercise science or similar major.
Experience
Experience with student leadership.
Experience as assistant women's basketball college coach.
