Shenandoah University, a proud member of the NCAA Division III and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), invites applications for the position of Head Softball Coach. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a competitive softball program that emphasizes academic excellence, athletic achievement, and personal growth. This is a 10-month/full time position with benefits located on our main campus in Winchester, VA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive softball program strategy that aligns with the university's mission and values.
- Coaching & Development: Plan and conduct practices, develop game strategies, and provide mentorship to student-athletes to enhance their skills and performance.
- Recruitment: Identify, recruit, and retain talented student-athletes who demonstrate the potential for academic and athletic success at Shenandoah University.
- Academic Support: Monitor and support the academic progress of student- athletes, ensuring compliance with university and NCAA academic standards.
- Compliance & Administration: Ensure adherence to all NCAA, ODAC, and university policies and regulations. Manage program budgets, scheduling, and travel arrangements.
- Community Engagement: Foster relationships within the university community and engage in outreach activities to promote the softball program.
- Staff Supervision: Hire, train, and supervise an assistant coach and support staff, promoting a positive and collaborative team environment.
Experience: Minimum of three years of coaching experience at the collegiate level, with a demonstrated record of success in recruiting and program development.
Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to mentor student-athletes and foster a positive team culture.
Certifications: Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
