The Director of Athletics provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for SUNY Orange's intercollegiate athletic programs. This role ensures compliance with NJCAA regulations, manages departmental staff, oversees athletic facilities, and drives initiatives for athletic excellence and student-athlete success. The Director is responsible for aligning the athletic program with the College's mission while promoting a culture of integrity, accountability, and achievement. This position requires a flexible schedule with evening and weekend commitments and regular travel.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for Athletics
Hire, supervise, and evaluate coaching staff and support personnel
Oversee departmental budget, scheduling, and contract negotiations
Maintain NJCAA compliance including eligibility and roster filings
Promote student-athlete academic achievement and retention
Coordinate athletic scholarships and Letters of Intent (LOI)
Collaborate on athletic communications, media relations, and marketing
Ensure safety, staffing, and operations for athletic events
Supervise athletic facilities and propose improvements
Oversee fundraising, sponsorships, summer sports camps, and the Recreation Club
Chair the Colt Athletic Hall of Fame Committee and act as Deputy Title IX Coordinator
Job Requirements: Education Required: Bachelor's degree or higher
Experience Required: Five (5) years of experience in the administration of intercollegiate, high school or professional athletics or related field. Supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Intercollegiate coaching experience
Familiarity with NJCAA rules and regulations
Experience in a community college or higher education setting
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Bilingual proficiency a plus

Salary: $54,786-$72,592 per annum; commensurate with experience. This is a Staff & Chair, Grade 60, 12 month position.
