The Assistant Sports Performance Coach serves to assist the Assistant Athletic Director of Performance Coach in all facets of the overall Sports Performance program for USC Upstate student-athletes.
•Works independently to design and teach USC Upstate student-athletes strength and conditioning techniques. Ensures that students receive sound programming, advice, motivation and supervision with regard to strength and conditioning techniques. Design and implement workout sessions for assigned teams. Teach and instruct proper weightlifting techniques, strength training, and power development. Utilize available technology to provide best possible outcomes for assigned teams.
•Provide daily supervision and maintenance of the Performance Center. Assist in oversight of graduate assistants, management of the fuel bar, assistance and coverage with teams when required, and other daily responsibilities as assigned.
•Assist the Sports Medicine Staff with rehabilitation and independently design injury prevention exercises as needed.
•Maintain regular contact with the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance, sport head coaches, and the sports medicine staff regarding the progress of student-athletes.
•Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Performance.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Certification from either The National Strength and Conditioning Association (“NSCA”) or The Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (“CSCCA”) or have certification by employment start date. Good driving record, valid driver’s license and successful background check are required.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in exercise science, public health, education or related degree. Familiarity with Olympic style lifting, experience utilizing wearable technology to provide actionable insight to enhance performance and experience in intercollegiate athletics are preferred. American Red Cross or American heart Association CPR and First Aid Instructor.
Salary: $40,000; Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
