The Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA), founded in 1891, is a nonprofit organization whose objective is to "promote, influence, and assist in financing the varsity athletic programs of the midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy" in accordance with the policy of the Superintendent of the Academy. Through an intercollegiate athletics program that is one of the largest in the country, every midshipman is afforded the opportunity to compete in athletics at the Division I level. The emphasis on physical fitness is borne out in the first line of the mission of the U.S. Naval Academy: To develop midshipmen morally, mentally and physically.
Summary
The Assistant Director of Marketing and is responsible for implementing and managing marketing strategies to increase the visibility, attendance, and fan engagement of athletic programs. This role involves creating and executing marketing plans, developing promotional materials, and coordinating with other departments to ensure effective marketing campaigns.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Marketing, Sales, and Advertising:
Contribute to creative process of determining the marketing theme for assigned sports
Assist with running assigned teams’ social media accounts and create graphics
Design digital graphics for group sales and season tickets
Develop and implement a plan to increase group ticket sales for football, basketball, and wrestling
Responsible for assigning work to student intern staff (college students who are working for credits)
Assist with the planning and administration of all game day activities and logistics (all sports as necessary)
Directly responsible for the entire marketing process for at least one varsity sport which will include: Meeting with Head Coach prior to the season to discuss various marketing ideas, complete marketing plan, development and implementation of promotions and giveaways for selected games.
Advertise and run the Kidshipmen Club throughout the athletic year
Local Corporate Sales:
Solicit potential corporate sponsors and marketing trade partners
Identify, solicit, and consummate, radio, and television trades
Assist with media placement coordination
Oversee game-day corporate partner fulfillment through tickets, PA announcements, scoreboard messages, promotions, etc.
Promotions:
Responsible for the creation and implementation of all promotions used to not only increase athletic attendance but also to increase the overall atmosphere at athletic events
Establish promotions to increase attendance at events and visibility of corporate sponsors’ relationship with the Navy Athletic Department
Create, design, and purchase promotional items for game-day giveaways
Coordinate and oversee distribution of promotional item
Serves as a staff member of a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) - sanctioned athletics program, and understands that NCAA rules and regulations must be followed and strictly adhered to. Maintains an understanding and awareness of applicable NCAA rules via annual compliance briefs to staff, the NCAA Manual, copies of which are maintained in the Compliance Office, regular compliance item e-mails generated by the Compliance Office, and the NCAA official website (ncaapublications.com – Div I Manual). Immediately notifies the Compliance Office if a potential violation of NCAA rules is observed. Understands that non-compliance with NCAA rules and regulations may be grounds for termination of employment

Qualifications
Experience, Education, & Certification(s)
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Sports Marketing or related field required.
Master’s Degree in Marketing, Sports Marketing or related field or equivalent relevant work experience preferred.
Experience working with an athletic department and sports marketing department.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Ability to formulate and implement marketing and promotional strategies.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud is highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of social media, social media strategy, and social media trends preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be available to work nights, weekends and sometimes holidays.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
Must be eligible to work in the United States of America, without sponsorship.
Must be eligible to work on a military installation, including a willingness to submit to a background screen.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Work Conditions/Physical Requirements
Must be available to cover full athletics event schedules, which includes working consecutive nights and weekends
Ability to lift and move athletics equipment up to 50 pounds
This job operates in both a professional office environment and outside at sport-related events, including inclement weather
