Director of Athletic Communications Job Description:
Oversee and coordinate all traditional sports information duties including record/statistic-keeping, game previews/summaries, live-streams of competitions, scoring tables staff, and other media related to sport coverage. Adhere to Landmark Conference and NCAA sport information expectations, policies, and procedures. Supervise Athletic Communication GAs.
Essential Job Functions:
35 % A. Responsible for all aspects of traditional game day sports information operations that support a contest: game programs, hiring and supervision of statistics crews, photographers, supervising the press box, providing scripts for the public address announcers, managing live streaming on FloSports. 30% B. Ensure that information about the college’s intercollegiate athletic program is available to the public in a timely and effective manner by covering assigned sports and teams in all aspects. Update game notes/information, the athletics website, pre and post-game media, action photographs, and the compiling of statistics, records, and archives. 15% C. Adhere to the NCAA and Landmark Conference SID Standards, expectations, policies, and procedures – nominate student-athletes for conference, regional, and national awards; assist in organizing and managing Goucher Athletics Hall of Fame, the annual All Goucher Team, departmental awards, and the annual awards ceremony; assist in planning/coordination of other major events including Blue and Gold Weekend; Golf Outing; championships/meets. 10% D. Facilitate and improve Goucher’s athletic presence on social media platfors – collaborate with the Office of Communications on the generation of creative content/media. 15 % E. Supervise Athletic Communications Gas, marketing teams, and other student workers. Education:
Required: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred: Master’s Degree
Professional Experience:
Required: 2-4 years working the field of sports information or athletic communications in a collegiate setting
Preferred: 5 years of experience including time as the Director of Athletic Communications
