University of the Cumberlands, a NAIA institution, is seeking a full-time Assistant Wrestling Coach. This person will be responsible for assisting the head coach in areas of recruitment, planning and participating in practices, match management and program administration.

RESPONSIBILITIES: •Serves as recruiter for the sport of wrestling, identifying and evaluating potential students with that interest and organizing their recruitment in conjunction with the Office of Admissions. •Assists with organization of all aspects of the program, including coaching and management of facility, practice and team operations. •Helps execute team fundraising efforts, including participation in camps and clinics. •Handles uniform and equipment maintenance and inventory. •Projects and promotes an inclusive education with the highest standards, where student-athletes are empowered to leave lives of personal significance and professional success as global citizens. •Acts as an ambassador of the University and conducts oneself in a positive manner to heighten the awareness of the institution to all of its constituents. •Operates within the mission of the University and athletics department to ensure a full NAIA student-athlete experience. •Follows all institutional, MSC and NAIA regulations regarding wrestling and athletics in general. •Other duties as assigned by the head coach, wrestling or director of athletics. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: •Bachelor’s degree. •Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics, rules and regulations of athletic associations and conferences. •Successful candidates should display passion for player development, strong interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated commitment to the mission of UC and our values of learning, leadership, faith, and service. •Collegiate wrestling experience.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified applicants will have the availability to work evenings and weekends, possess a valid driver’s license for transportation of team in vans or bus and have the ability to travel for team practices, competition and recruiting.

Under the NAIA Bylaws regarding Sports-Safety Training, each head coach and all other coaches who are employed at an institution shall maintain current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use.
