Accountabilities:
Responsible for the effective coordination, management, and game-planning for the assigned program area for the football program. This includes the execution of specific strategic activities and outcomes within the assigned area of the football program and/or position group. These will include sustained performance and execution in the following areas:
adhere to Head Coach’s philosophy;
athletic instruction/coaching and competition preparation/scouting;
student-athlete development and general welfare; and
program operations and administration as designated by the head coach.
Responsible for contributing to overall team recruitment strategy, including but not limited to:
exercising independent judgment regarding the recruitment of prospective student-athletes;
attracting and evaluating prospective student-athletes;
effective planning of travel schedules, planning and coordination of official visits; and
developing and maintaining relationships with prospective student-athletes and other recruiting constituents.
Responsible for support and management of student-athletes to include sustained performance in the following areas:
monitoring student-athlete academic progress and persistence to graduation;
support of student-athlete welfare and development, including connection to department and campus resources;
encouraging student-athlete participation in department, campus, and community initiatives; and
role modeling behaviors and leadership for student-athletes.
Independent and unchallengeable decision-making regarding all student-athlete participation in assigned sport activities when the head coach is not present. Accountable for student-athlete welfare while coaching.
Other responsibilities include:
maintaining professional relationships with key internal and external stakeholders;
maintaining a budget and exercising independent discretion budgetary decisions;
effective hiring, oversight and management of student managers and/or assigned part-time casual wage staff; and
other duties as assigned by the head coach.
Accountable for maintaining personal compliance with all relevant governing bodies to include:
NCAA
athletic conference
athletic department
university policies
This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), in accordance with the federal statutory requirements of the Jeanne Clery Act. CSAs are required to and responsible for reporting allegations of crimes they receive from students and employees to the Campus Safety Department.
Professional Experience/Qualifications
Five (5) or more years of NCAA collegiate football coaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience recruiting highly competitive NCAA Division I student-athletes. Experience with in-game play calling.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree is required.
