Position Summary:
Adams State University has an opening for a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer. Responsibilities include coordinating and delivering athletic training services to the student-athletes of Adams State University, including but not limited to: collaborate with staff, coaches, the Head Athletic Trainer, and team physicians to assist in the direct provision of injury evaluation, athletic training, and rehabilitation services for student-athletes, practices and game coverage, design and supervision of rehabilitation programs, and administration of athletic training operations as assigned. Requires travel and work over holidays and weekends. Specific Responsibilities
Daily operations for the athletic training room as listed above and the following:
Sport team responsibilities/assignments as specified by Head Athletic Trainer communication with coaches and student athletes of assigned teams.
Ensuring safety of patients and staff through enforcement of safety procedures.
Maintenance and upkeep of the athletic training room as a medical facility and other sites as designated.
Continued education in sports medicine and maintaining good standing with the NATA Board of Certification.
Provide injury/illness evaluation, injury prevention and recovery programs, emergency care, management and treatment, and rehabilitation for intercollegiate student-athletes.
Maintain accurate injury reports, treatment logs, rehabilitation progress reports, and other medical records for student-athletes.
Arrange consultations for student-athletes with consulting physicians or other medical specialties as needed. This includes scheduling appointments, accompanying the student-athletes to office visits and/or communicating with providers.
Act as liaison with student-athletes, coaches, physicians, other medical and non-medical personnel regarding injury and health conditions for student-athletes.
Team travel for assigned sports.
Apply protective devices and equipment for injured student-athletes.
Assist with organization of pre-season physicals and Pre-participation paperwork.
Assist other athletic training staff with facility supervision and operation.
Assist with supply and equipment inventory.
Assist with maintenance and repair of exercise equipment and therapeutic modalities.
Assist with ordering necessary supplies complying with all department purchasing procedures.
Provide assistance with institutional and NCAA Drug Testing Procedures as requested by the Head Athletic Trainer.
Assist with provision of Athletic Training services for events occurring on University property as requested by the Head Athletic Trainer, possibly including weekend events and travel responsibilities.
Create a clinical environment conducive to be successful in management of an intercollegiate athletic population.
Position is also responsible for assisting in setting up athletic training coverage of summer sports camps and managing Gatorade ordering and donations.
Position is also responsible for assisting in setting up CPR training for the athletic department and as needed for campus wide training.
Responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the Intercollegiate Athletics Department, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of Adams State University, the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and the NCAA.
Other duties as specified by the Head Athletic Trainer.
Qualifications
Ability to perform the requirements of the position
Certification and good standing with the National Athletic Trainer’s Board of Certification.
Eligible for licensure or current license for the state of Colorado
Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in athletic training or related field.
Sensitivity to student-athlete issues
Proven ability to meet multiple demands in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment.
Proven ability to work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills required for working with a diverse group of patients, clinical staff, administrators, athletic staff, and visitors.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion handling sensitive matters involving patients.
Computer literacy, including working knowledge of word processing programs.

Current First Aid/CPR Certification

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional related education and training
Experience with advanced manual therapy skills applicable to orthopedics and sports medicine.
Knowledge of clinical information/ appointment systems.
