Position: Head Athletic Trainer Reports to: Athletic Director Terms: Full Time-10 Month position Salary: College Scale plus benefits Starting Date: Position open until filled
Position Summary: The successful candidate will oversee all events related to the health and wellness of the student- athletes occurring through the athletic training room. Duties will include supervision of Assistant Athletic Trainer, recruitment and supervision of athletic training students, provide coverage for all games and practices, and oversite of the athletic training budget. Instruction of college-level Kinesiology and Athletic Training courses will be taught by the candidate. Varied duties will also be performed associated with the care, prevention, and rehabilitation of injuries associated with all athletic teams. Essential Functions: • On-site care and management of injuries and illnesses including: prevention, evaluation management and rehabilitation. • Ensure that all athletes have clearance to participate through designated pre-participation paperwork and physical prior to the start of any season. • Ensure that all NJCAA, WJCAC, NIRA and WTC guidelines and regulations are fulfilled with regard to presence at sporting events. • Coordinate arrangements for injured athletes to get the necessary medical advice and treatments from team physicians and other support staff. • Administer the proper preventative, rehabilitative therapy or post injury care for athletes, using available devices and facilities. • Assess and report the progress of recovering athletes and any treatment of athletes within the training room to coaching staff. • Collaborate with physicians in order to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation program for athletic injuries. • Plan and implement comprehensive athletic injury prevention programs. • Supervise athletic training facility, purchasing equipment and supplies, budget preparation, inventories, and general maintenance issues. • Supervise and educate athletic training students in first aid treatment, use of modalities, taping and bandaging, care of athletic injuries, and record keeping. • Coordination and scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions. • Establish and maintain records of pre-participation forms, physical and medical forms, injuries, evaluations, physician visits, daily treatments, and rehabilitations for student athletes. • Recruitment of student-athletes to the athletic training program.
Qualifications: • Experience in the collegiate setting preferred but not required. • Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field. • Certification from the National Athletic Trainers Board of Certification, ATC • Licensed by the Texas Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers, LAT • CPR and First aid certification (instructor preferred)
