United States Sports Academy (USSA) seeks a mature and experienced professional to serve as our inaugural Head Women’s Volleyball Coach and launch our volleyball program from the inception point. The Head Women’s Volleyball Coach is expected to lead the university team in all aspects of student-athlete success by modeling a championship program in character and communication, both on the court and in the classroom. USSA has been conferring regionally and nationally accredited sport-specific degrees for over 50 years but just add intercollegiate athletics in the Fall of 2023. USSA has five sports currently: men’s soccer, women’s soccer, baseball, softball, and track & field, and is looking to add cross country and women’s volleyball for the 2025-2026 academic year.
The expectation is 15-18 women will take the court in August 2025. A scholarship program is in place to assist with recruiting..
JOB EXPECTATIONS:

- Leadership and behavioral exercise for the student-athletes in the program.
-Recruiting and retaining high caliber and quality student-athletes who understand and embrace USSA’s mission and vision.
-Leading administrative and organizational decisions for the program.
-Daily practice and game responsibilities while building a championship team.
-Maintaining close and open communication with all stakeholders.
-Creating service opportunities for student-athletes to give back to the community.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Responsible for leading, managing, and developing the Volleyball program including:
a. Recruitment and retention of the women participating in the program.
b. Specified areas of teaching within the program, including character building activities, academic studies, and community ethos.
c. On and off field coaching and instruction for game day preparation.
d. Prepare team through scouting reports, regional connectivity, and internal/ external communications.
e. Monitor academic performance of student-athletes and partner with Academic Services for sustainability and success with persistence toward a degree.
f. Office work, including but not limited to, game contracts and scheduling, budget management, travel and equipment needs, training and conditioning while partnering with other athletic staff.
-Lead with the planning and oversight of the women's volleyball budget.
-Visibility and engagement with the campus and community as a respected leader.
-Contribute to the development and growth of the athletic department.
-Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director of Athletics or Assistant Director of Athletics.
The Head Women's Volleyball Coach will report directly to the Associate Director of Athletics, Shealynn Miller. This is a full-time position with a starting salary range of $55,000 to $70,000 per year, dependent on credentials and experience, plus benefits. Currently, USSA is not able to grant visas to any international candidate. Position open until filled. QUALIFICATIONS: -Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. -Experience in coaching volleyball (3-5 years); collegiate level coaching preferred. -Commitment to adhering to all policies, rules, and regulations of USSA and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) byrepresenting the university at the highest level. -Ability to work cooperatively with other administrators, coaches, students, faculty and staff members, community leaders, and parents. -Ability to join and engage with the USSA family for any and all campus events. -Desire to build a proud, distinguished, championship program.
The United States Sports Academy is a higher education institution located in Daphne, AL that specializes in the teaching of sport. Offering bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in sport coaching, sport performance, and sport management, USSA is a growing university for students to study and continue into the profession of sport. After 50 years of teaching sport education, USSA has launched intercollegiate athletic teams: men's soccer, women's soccer, baseball, softball, track and field, with anticipation of adding women's volleyball and cross country for the 2025-2026 academic year.
