As a member of the Centennial Conference and affiliated with the College Squash Association, Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference and Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association, Franklin & Marshall sponsors 24 intercollegiate athletic teams at the NCAA Division III level, in addition to sponsoring Men’s Wrestling at the NCAA Division I level, with men’s and women’s squash and men’s rowing also at the varsity level. Franklin & Marshall Athletics has fielded 152-conference champions and four national champions. One program in particular, the Franklin & Marshall women’s lacrosse team, has been among the most successful and nationally-dominant programs in the sport. The program boasts two NCAA national championships in 2007 and 2009, while also competing in the national championship game in 2008. The program has a current streak of three Elite 8 appearances, including back-to-back Final Four appearances in each of the last two seasons, and has played in 19 consecutive conference championship games, earning 15 conference championships overall. The program’s overall record sits at 596-210-3 (294-51 in conference).
Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Director of Athletics & Recreation, the Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach is responsible for providing effective leadership for, and day-to-day management of, the women’s lacrosse program. The Head Coach is also to support the academic mission of the College through athletics and recreation programs by teaching and demonstrating examples of leadership and value-based decision-making to student-athletes. The Head Coach is also tasked with facilitating the integration of athletics into students’ educational experience and initiating activities in support of the department.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Implement and maintain a standard of performance consistent with the College’s goals of academic and athletic excellence.
• Promote academic achievement among student-athletes.
• Consult with and work collaboratively with the Director of Athletics & Recreation and the Assistant Director of Athletics for Student Success regarding the holistic development of student-athletes as appropriate.
• Provide instruction, mentoring, coaching, evaluation of, and guidance to student-athletes to allow them to develop their athletic skills and abilities to maximum potential.
• Determine appropriate coaching methods and strategies in consultation with the Director of Athletics & Recreation.
• Provide effective leadership, mentoring and supervision to Assistant Coaches.
• Provide assistance in scheduling and organizing games.
• Develop and communicate practice schedules.
• Manage the program within budgetary guidelines and submit all budget-related reports and requests as required.
• Advise the Director of Athletics & Recreation of resource needs, including funding needs and staffing needs.
• Collaboratively work with College Advancement personnel to promote and administer Diplomat Athletic Club (DAC) activities and events.
• Raise DAC funds to meet goals established by the Department in cooperation with College Advancement.
• Collaborate with Admissions personnel to develop and implement recruiting strategies and programs to identify and attract promising student-athletes.
• Provide recommendations to Admissions staff regarding admittance to Franklin & Marshall.
• Maintain an understanding of Admissions objectives, strategies, practices and procedures.
• Work with Athletic Communications staff to promote the team and provide relevant information to the media.
• Ensure the compliance and conduct of all individuals within the women’s lacrosse program is consistent with all NCAA, conference, departmental and institutional expectations, policies, and procedures, as well as all federal, state and local laws.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics & Recreation.

Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of four to seven years of coaching experience at the post-secondary level and/or professional competitive experience is preferred; one to three years of experience is required.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
A thorough knowledge of athletic administration at the collegiate level and a demonstrated record of successful athletic administrative experience or equivalent management experience.
Commitment to excellence in academics and athletics.
Ability to recruit, connect and develop staff and student-athletes from diverse backgrounds with an emphasis on providing a ‘complete experience’.
Demonstrated understanding of fund and friend raising and promoting the women’s lacrosse program within the College and the broader campus community.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills with both internal and external constituencies.
Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA and Centennial Conference rules operations and an understanding of the philosophy of Division III athletics, with the ability to work with Admissions and coaches in the appropriate recruitment of student-athletes.
