Shenandoah University’s Athletic Office is accepting applications for an Assistant Wrestling Coach. This is a full-time benefited position on our main Winchester, Virginia campus. This position may also be part-time, dependent upon the candidate's availability and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
Coaching and Training: - Utilize sound teaching techniques to conduct match preparation and practice sessions. - Coordinate and organize individual workouts. - Provide live wrestling sessions for student-athletes.
Recruiting: - Assist the Head Coach in developing and executing a recruiting strategy to attract top student-athletes. - Build and maintain relationships with recruits to foster a strong talent pipeline. Athlete Development: - Mentor and monitor student-athletes’ academic and athletic development. - Maintain a safe and healthy training environment.
Compliance: - Adhere to and promote the policies and objectives established by the Athletics Director, Head Coach, and NCAA. - Ensure compliance with all university, conference, and NCAA regulations.
Fundraising and Special Events: - Assist with fundraising initiatives and special events to support the wrestling program.
Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree, (Master’s Degree Preferred), and 1+ years of college coaching experience as well as collegiate-level wrestling experience. This position involves frequent verbal, written, and email correspondence with current and prospective students, parents, faculty, and staff. The successful candidate must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to the academic development of student-athletes.
Part-time: Coaching experience is required, but a Bachelor's degree is not mandatory.
A pre-employment background check will be required and a satisfactory driving record may be required as a condition of hire.
