Saint Mary’s University is seeking to hire an Assistant Athletic Trainer. This position will work in conjunction with the athletic training staff to coordinate the healthcare of Student-Athletes. This position will educate Student-Athletes on general health habits that will assist in injury prevention and overall well-being and will provide medical coverage at practices and athletic events.
Job Responsibilities: Daily instruction of Student-Athletes on rehabilitation exercises post injury in order to provide a safe return to athletic participation. Implement the treatment, care and rehabilitation of injuries according to the protocols by the team physician. Evaluate and direct the emergency medical attention given when a student-athlete is seriously injured in practice or competition. Manage the supervision and clinical instruction of students in an Athletic Training Student Education Program. Communicate with team physicians/physical therapist to carry out treatment. Maintain an inventory of all supplies and ensure that daily supplies are available. Develop and implement composite injury tracking data system. Provide injury evaluation and tracking documentation. Provide athletic trainer certified coverage for all assigned practices and events; daily scheduling to cover practices, competition, and travel. Schedule freshman pre-season screenings and evaluations. Clean and maintain facility and equipment. Monitor physicals, first year evaluations, and informed consent documents. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential Skills:

Physical Demands Medium work. Medium work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Experience and Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s preferred.
Current CPR and first aid certification.
National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) Certified.
Licensed or eligible to be licensed by the Minnesota Medical Board of Practice – Athletic Trainers.
2 years of prior experience preferred.
May consider other acceptable equivalent combinations of training and experience.
