North Park University, a member of the College Conference of Illinois, would like to announce that applications are now being accepted for the position of Assistant Baseball Coach. This twelve-month, full-time position is responsible for assisting the head coach with all aspects of an NCAA Division III men’s baseball program including recruitment, retention, coaching, scheduling, team travel, and budgeting.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Analyze performance and instruct athletes in baseball techniques and strategies in preparation for and during athletics competition.
•Execute game and practice planning/evaluation.
•Utilize technology platforms for player development as well as self and opponent scouting.
•Assist with all phases of competitive NCAA and CCIW compliant recruiting.
•Ensure a commitment to the academic success of baseball student-athletes, including monitoring academic performance, attendance, and social behavior.
•Provide on-site coaching in games and practices, including organization and implementation of daily training schedules for all team members.
•Build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and the campus community.
•Participate in fundraising and development events and be highly visible in the community.
•Supervise, develop, and evaluate part-time, volunteer, or graduate assistant coaches.
•Complete other duties as assigned by the Head Baseball Coach, Assistant Vice President for Athletics and Sport Management, and Associate and Assistant Athletic Directors.
Qualifications:
•A bachelor’s degree is required.
•Expertise in developing and implementing plans for player skill acquisition.
•Demonstrated success in coaching pitchers and/or significant collegiate coaching, recruiting and player evaluation experience preferred.
•Applicants must be able to work an untraditional work schedule (i.e. frequent nights and weekends).
•Able to lift and move athletic equipment.
•Able to travel with team, by vehicle or plane.
•A valid driver’s license is required.
•Possess a clear understanding and personal commitment to North Park’s mission of Christian higher education.
