Summary Provides care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and related problems in cadet-athletes. Assumes primary responsibility for an assigned athletic team(s).
Scope of Impact Assumes responsibility for coordinating and delivering all athletic training services and oversees the overall health and well-being of cadet-athletes for assigned sport(s). Conducts thorough and accurate record keeping. Undertakes administrative taskings and special projects at the discretion of the Associate Athletic Director, Head Athletic Trainer. Performs duties consistent with the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Board of Certification, and New York State Board of Education standards.
Level of Decision-Making Extremely High: The position will have discretionary decision-making in the day-to-day management of cadet-athletes and their healthcare. Must be able to think critically and make independent decisions regarding assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play decisions in conjunction with team physicians. Failure to perform these responsibilities could result in severe injury, including death.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities •75% Health care services for assigned team(s) oCoordinate and deliver athletic training services daily to assigned team(s). oProvide care and manage injuries and illnesses, including prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation strategies. oMaintain proper records of injuries, treatment, rehabilitation, and exposure. oCommunicate effectively with the Associate Athletics Director, Head Athletic Trainer, Supervisor, coaches, parents, military personnel, and physicians in all matters of cadet health and safety. oDesign and supervise rehabilitation programs. oRefer cadet-athletes to the appropriate physician according to accepted guidelines. oCollaborate with sports performance staff (e.g., strength and nutrition) on matters of cadet-athlete wellness and return to play. •10% Education & Prevention oProvide education and instruction to cadet-athletes on the prevention and care of musculoskeletal injuries. oSupervise athletic training students and cadet managers/trainers for assigned team(s). •10% Risk Mitigation and other duties as assigned. oImplements risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with the performance team. oOther duties as assigned by Supervisor or Associate Athletics Director, Head Athletic Trainer. •5% Other Duties

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
Must be able to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the athletics schedule.
Able to lift > 75 lbs.
Ability to move self and athletic training supplies to athletic training rooms and storerooms.
Consistently operate computer and productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine, and medical modalities.
This position frequently communicates with cadet-athletes, coaches, physicians, and staff regarding cadet health and wellness. Must be able to communicate and share information with all parties.
Consistently works in outdoor weather conditions when providing direct support at outdoor practice and competition facilities.
Travel
Travel as necessary with the team(s) to away contests. Up to 20% of the time may be committed to travel and overnight stays.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field
National Athletic Trainers' Association Certification
Board of Certification License
New York State Athletic Trainers' Certification/License or eligible
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
Able to operate Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree
1-2 years of athletic training experience with a Division I intercollegiate athletics program or related experience
Manual therapy skill sets
Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and medical records software.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
Must be eligible to work in the United States of America without sponsorship.
Must be eligible to work on a military installation, including willing to submit to a background screen.
