The Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach (MLX) will oversee the development and maintenance of a successful competitive sport program within the guidelines and bylaws of the College, the NCAA and the ODAC. The position carries additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Teaching and strengthening student-athlete (SA) sport skills. • The development and implementation of daily practices and season plans. • Must be able to identify, recruit, yield and retain qualified SAs able to compete in the ODAC. • Knowledge of and the productive use of Front Rush. • Support the academic success of the team. • Handle operating needs of the program, including the development of a MLX budget, needed supplies, uniforms, and equipment. • With the approval of the Athletics Director, schedule sport competitions. • Coordinate travel as needed and in accordance with departmental policies. • Work collaboratively with the Athletics Communications Director for home contest coverage and communications needs for promoting the sport. • Properly supervise and mentor assistant coaches, student workers and volunteer coaches. • Additional duties may include game management for Fall and/or Winter sports. • Under the supervision of the Athletics Director, create successful fund raising endeavors and work with Advancement to develop donors. • Must ensure compliance with all Guilford College regulations and rules/regulations of the NCAA and the ODAC. • First Aid and CPR/AED certification required. Additionally must have a valid driver’s license.
Minimum Qualifications
3 years of professional experience and Bachelor's degree required.
Must be able to work with a diverse group of people.
Must be able to work on weekends, evenings and holidays as necessary.
Must be knowledgeable of NCAA governing rules.
Must not be under investigation by the NCAA for any rules violations, or found responsible for any major NCAA violations.
Must be CPR & AED certified.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Must successfully pass a background check.
Preferred Requirements:
Master’s degree.
Successful coaching experience and/or successful progress building a competitive program.
Experience with NCAA compliance, or the ability to provide vision and hands on support for Facilities.
