Kansas Athletics is seeking an Assistant Director of Academic and Career Counseling who will be responsible for all aspects of the student-athletes academic structure including initial visits with prospective athletes, advising of degree and course options, and assisting with certification and eligibility of current and prospective athletes.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a field directly related to education &/or counseling student-athletes;
A minimum of 1-3 years’ experience counseling student-athletes on successful attainment of academic and personal goals
Knowledge of NCAA academic requirements and legislation;
Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail;
Demonstrated ability to effectively time manage with the capacity to adapt quickly to the demands of classes, practice, competition, travel and eligibility standards;
Ability to work well both independently and in collaboration with staff as a team member;
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills;
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and solutions focused approach to challenges and improvements;
Demonstrated proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, etc.);
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the personal and academic development of students from diverse backgrounds;
Experience working with students on college admissions process;
Knowledge of high school to college transition dynamic.
Annual Base Salary: $48,000
