Southern Arkansas University, a NCAA Division II member institution and member of the Great American Conference (GAC) is seeking applicants for the position of Head Athletic Trainer.
Duties: lead and direct all aspects of the Athletic Training Department; recruit, hire and supervise a team of highly qualified Athletic Trainers; supervise and/or provide prevention, evaluation, treatment, referral and rehabilitation of injuries to student-athletes; supervise and assign health care coverage for 16 varsity sports, both home and away; coordinate medical appointments with University Health Services, sports medicine physicians and allied health personnel; supervise and maintain medical records for all student-athletes, including insurance records; supervise the use of Vivature EMR system and JumpForward; participate in the planning of the Athletic Training budget; develop program policies and procedures; supervise and manage the Athletic Insurance Coordinator; ensure compliance with relevant and applicable provisions of the NCAA, GAC and SAU; coordinate and administer SAU and NCAA Drug Education and Testing Programs, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Master’s degree or higher, preferably in Athletic Training; BOC Certification; Arkansas State Athletic Trainers license or eligible; 5 years of Athletic Training experience and 2-3 years as Head Athletic Trainer or equivalent; ability to lead and supervise a diverse staff that can work collaboratively with coaching staffs, student-athletes, administrators and outside vendors; experience and expertise in electronic medical records systems (Vivature); excellent verbal, written and communication skills; proven ability to effectively collaborate with others and promote teamwork; ability to collaborate with colleagues, physicians and counselors to maximize student-athlete well-being.
