The Ohio State University Department of Athletics is seeking an Assistant Director, Athletic Training & Rehab Coordinator. This individual is a member of the OSU Sports Performance team which serves to create an environment where all student athletes involved in the intercollegiate athletic program at Ohio State receive the best medical care possible. This position coordinates and provides health care and comprehensive athletic training and rehabilitative services to student-athletes in their assigned sports. Provides prevention, clinical evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries under the direction of the managing team physician and athletic training supervisor. Serves as a resource for our student-athletes as it pertains to their health and wellness, and is the health care point of contact for physicians, coaches and sports performance team. This position will provide consultation and assist in the rehabilitation coordination of student-athletes and their return to sport for Olympic sports. This position will apply knowledge and info from PIT and Tech Pods to all Olympic sports; increase availability and knowledge of availability of sport science tools to other sports for testing purposes; oversee and apply proven objective measures to all rehabs done within Olympic sports. This position will help insure best return to play decisions; supply quality data to PIT groups for future studies of medical best practice. This position may supervise Staff Athletic Trainers and/or Intern Athletic Trainers. Supervisory duties include hiring, goal setting, performance management, professional development and ongoing guidance and support. Under the direction of an athletic training leader, will serve as a subject matter expert for the Athletic Training team in an identified specialization, developing and providing communications and education related to the identified specialization. Maintains accurate and up to date injury and treatment records in accordance with established medical documentation standards. Provides injury rehabilitation programs and implements changes in accordance with best practices. Consults with strength and conditioning staff to implement and/or modify conditioning activities to prevent injury. Establishes and monitors return to play progression from injury and modifies progression based on individualized response in consultation with team physician and athletic training supervisor. Will provide home and away competition coverage as assigned in order to provide acute injury evaluation and diagnosis for on field injuries. Will assist with Big Ten and NCAA championship events as assigned. Performs related administrative tasks and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Additional Education Desired

Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications

Experience in providing athletic training services in a multi-sport environment, NATA certification and eligibility for Ohio Athletic Trainers License required. Experience in a Division One intercollegiate athletic training program desired. Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to interact effectively with a diverse student athlete population required. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
