Position Summary:
Arkansas Tech University seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic, and proven leader with the experience and skills necessary to serve as head coach of its competitive NCAA Division II women's cross country and track and field program.
The successful candidate will lead an up-and-coming overall program that has finished runner-up at the Great American Conference Cross Country Championships each of the last three years. On the track and field side, the program just completed its third season of competition and has finished fourth at the conference track and field championships with a predominant distance roster.
Given the relatively young lifespan of the track and field program, there is a tremendous opportunity to build up that program and establish its foundation.
This position is responsible for directing all aspects of the women's cross country/track and field program including, recruitment and development of student-athletes, budget development and management, and engaging with members of the university community and citizens of the Arkansas River Valley. He or she will also be responsible for assuring compliance with policies and procedures set forth by Arkansas Tech University, the Great American Conference and the NCAA. The successful candidate will contribute to the ATU Department of Athletics' nationally recognized culture of community service, oversee the operation of summer camps and cultivate relationships with alumni/community members for the benefit of ATU, the Department of Athletics and the women's cross country/track and field program. The head women's cross country/track and field coach reports to the director of athletics and performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervision of staff Recruitment and development of student athletes, Budget development and management, Community relations both in and outside the university. Responsible for overseeing all aspects with the guidelines set forth by Arkansas Tech University, the Great American Conference, and the NCAA. Participation in fund-raising, operation of summer camps, community and alumni relations/cultivation expected. Teaching in the College of Education and Health Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
