James Madison University, a Division I Member of the NCAA and Sun Belt Conference, is seeking an Head Cheerleading Coach working primarily with coed and all girls cheer program. This position is a full-time, 12-month position with a full comprehensive benefits package. The anticipated start date is upon first availability.
Include but not limited to: • Coaching, training and motivating student-athletes in order to achieve a great game day environment for fans; while promoting a safe and encouraging environment. • Responsible for the administration of the Cheerleading program. Duties include oversight for: organize and schedule practices, facilities, games, and weight program; arrange travel, lodging, meals; travel with the team, develop and monitor budget, complete all requisitions, reimbursement vouchers, account vouchers; supervise the care, maintenance, inventory of equipment. • Responsible for recruiting quality student-athletes who meet admission requirements and who have the potential to graduate. Work with the Athletic Administrator on prospective student-athletes, tryout process and roster management numbers. All necessary forms (admissions, medical, etc.) are completed correctly and promptly. • Encourage player development by possessing a demonstrated commitment to high academic standards for student-athletes and their ability to succeed both academically and athletically is essential. Monitor academic progress of student-athletes. • Ensure compliance with all relevant institutional, AACCA (Governing body of cheerleading safety), NCAA rules and regulations. Provide technical training expertise in skill development and protocol to ensure student-athletes are managing development at appropriate levels in order to maintain a safe environment in practices and game day settings. • Ability to communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty, staff, and community to better enhance public relations. Assist the Duke Club in the promotion and fundraising of JMU Athletics, as well as Creative Services for Game day activities and fan engagement. • Schedule Mascot Appearances.
Required:
• Previous collegiate coaching experience • Effective communicator • Experience with game day fan planning • Fund raising experience • Ability to teach cheer skills to both coed and all girls • Bachelor's degree
Preferred:
• Division 1 coaching experience • Competition experience with UCA • Experience running camps and clinics • Master's degree
