The University of South Alabama, a NCAA Division I institution, charter member of the Sun Belt Conference and located on the Gulf Coast in Mobile, Alabama, is seeking applicants for the position of Graduate Assistant – Facilities and Operations
This position will work in the facilities and events department of South Alabama Athletics to assist in organizing, planning, and managing of all sporting events, while having oversight of sport game day operations. Assist with game day parking operations for all sporting events. Create visiting team guides for all sports. Schedule essential game day personnel for assigned sports. Oversee departmental inventory and radio maintenance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Assist with the preparation and set up activities for home intercollegiate athletic events, including but not limited to setting up athletic facilities, monitoring staff, and ordering hospitality for working staff. (25%) 2. Assist with parking operations for all athletic events. (25%) 3. Staff volleyball line judges, football game day staff, basketball table crew, and baseball game day staff. (25%) 4. Help with the set-up, break-down, operation of non-athletic events (meetings, meal, press conferences, etc.). (10%) 5. Performs other duties and projects as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Events. (10%) 6. NCAA Related: Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department's efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Reports potential rules violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all of their areas and/or programs activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations. (5%)
University will pay a bi-weekly stipend and cover full tuition expenses (except course related fees or textbooks) up to a maximum of 10 credit hours per semester.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama. A minimum of one year experience in college athletics, whether as a student worker or student-athlete.

Extremely organized, self-starter, intrinsically motivated. Strong organizational, management and leadership skills. Proven ability to multi-task effectively. Ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines. Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets. Availability to work flexible work schedule including nights and weekends. Thorough knowledge of NCAA and Sun Belt Conference rules and regulations. Acceptance into a graduate program at the University of South Alabama.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with facility and/or event management, or a degree in a similar field; Experience at the NCAA D-I FBS level.
