Assistant or Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Student Life will provide compliance and student-athlete oversight, as well as sport supervision and general leadership for the MSU Athletic Department. Reports to the Director of Athletics, supervision of one graduate assistant, sport and game day supervision as assigned. Position Description and Details
Serves as a member of the senior administrative team, responsible for the overall development, implementation and review of the institution’s compliance program. Est. Time Allocation: 60%
Determine the eligibility/compliance of all student athletes in accordance with NCAA Division II, NSIC By-Laws and MSU academic policies. Appropriately advise student athletes, coaches, and administrators on eligibility concerns, appeals, and waivers and determine an appropriate course of action as circumstances warrant. Prepare written and oral appeals when appropriate.
Maintain record keeping and database systems to assist in the verification of student athlete eligibility, tracking of academic progress, and monitoring of financial aid. Coordinate communication and information exchange with the records office and financial aid. Generate and produce related reports for various internal and external constituencies, including local campus authorities, governing agencies, the federal government, NCAA and conference offices.
Act as Minot State University’s liaison to other educational institutions and as a legislative interpreter to other MSU campus offices, administration, and committees on matters pertaining to student athlete eligibility and athletic grant-in-aid distribution. Represents MSU as the chief contact person with the NCAA in determining initial eligibility and other relevant topics. Facilitates timely exchange of information and educates the coaching staff, athletic administrators, support staff, recruiters, boosters, counselors, parents, and current and prospective student athletes in matters pertaining to athletic eligibility and compliance.
Conduct team orientation before each sport's playing season. Review all student-athlete NCAA and institutional compliance forms, including, but not limited to, the Drug Testing Consent Form, insurance acknowledgment form, and Student-Athlete Statement.
Assist with compilation and reporting of the NCAA Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act each year.
Prepare an communicate mid-term and final semester grades to head coaches and the Director of Athletics.
Coordinate the education of prospective student-athletes, enrolled student-athletes, coaches, college personnel, and representative of athletics interests with regard to NCAA, conference, and institutional rules
Responsible for monitoring Financial Aid limits offered based on team budgets.
Coordinate the National Letter of Intent program for athletes.
Coordinate the release of Letter of Intent signees with Sports Information, Financial Aid and Admissions,
Coordinate the process of initial and annual renewal, reduction, cancelation or non-renewal of athletic grants-in-aid with Financial Aid.
Serve as the advisor to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Serve as a member of the Compliance Committee
Serve as a member of the Gender Equity and Minority Issues Committee

Coordinate and oversee student ticket requests
Game Day supervision as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
Assist in game administration as assigned.
Liaison to all Minot State University student-athletes and PSA’s.
Liaison to the NCAA Eligibility Center.
Liaison to Admissions.
Liaison to Financial Aid.
Liaison to Registrar.
Liaison to Faculty Athletic Representative (FAR).
Liaison to all student life areas.
Liaison to all academic areas.
General:
Secure, assign, train, and supervise Graduate Assistants, part-time employees, student workers, and interns associated with overall function.
Coordinate all activities within institutional, conference, and NCAA guidelines.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. The Assistant or Associate Athletic Director for Compliance must possess or be able to acquire an immediate knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations at the NCAA Division II level. Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and organizational abilities, detailed record keeping and database management, knowledge of personal computer applications and specialty software programs. The individual must have the ability to make difficult decisions and produce highly accurate work based on sensitive and confidential materials and records while relating to the pressures of a demanding work environment and stressful time deadlines. In demonstrating a commitment to student success, both in academics and athletics, the position has responsibility for ensuring the academic eligibility and compliance of all student athletes within the program and will oversee the distribution of athletic grant-in-aid.
