A Day in the Life
As the Regional Controller, you will be responsible for the financial affairs of assigned facilities within KemperSports Venues Division. You will report to the VP of Accounting but will work in conjunction with the Operations Leadership team who manages the facilities.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Overseeing the financial activities of the assigned properties, including (but not limited to) timely and accurate financial reporting, compliance with internal controls, budget preparation, and cash management.
- Monthly Bank Account Reconciliations.
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, presentation reports, and dashboards for review and distribution to management and clients.
- Maintaining General Ledger including journal entries & adjustments.
- Providing first layer support for accounting and point of sale related questions at assigned properties.
- Monitoring bank balances to anticipate cash needs to satisfy accounts payable and payroll.
- Being Involved in the supervision of the accounting staff at the assigned properties.
- Working closely with on-site Management and Regional Operating Executives to provide financial reporting and analysis.
- Providing other departmental and company units with related information required by them to carry out their assigned responsibilities.
- Ensuring optimum performance of the function. Recommends and implements techniques to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, cut costs, take advantage of opportunities, and maintain state-of-the-art practices.
- Assessing compliance with financial regulations and controls by executing review/audit program steps; testing general ledger, account balances, balance sheets, income statements, and related financial statements; examining and analyzing records, reports, operating practices, and documentation.
- Keeping abreast of current trends and practices in field of expertise. Assumes other special activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
- Understanding the operations and how they impact the accounting at assigned sites.
- Acting within scope of authority and consistent with company and corporate objectives, guidelines, policies, and practices.
Ideal Candidate
- BS or BA in accounting.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Ability to travel to venues estimated at 10% of the time (required)
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- 3-5 years accounting experience in the sports venue/hospitality industry.
- Ability to communicate and explain complex financial issues to non-financial professionals.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Dynamics GP.
- Ability to analyze/solve problems and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Organization and attention to detail and a positive attitude.
