Reports to: National Team Head Coach
Specific Responsibilities
Regular coaching duties with the national team, within the daily training environment, as assigned by Biathlon Canada
Coach National Team (both Senior and Development) athletes that are hitting targets on the athlete podium pathway.
Competition season tour coaching on the World Cup, IBU Cup, Junior Cup, and other international competitions.
Create the pre-competition and competition plan prior to tours in consultation with all national team staff.
Work closely with key staff and stakeholders in the development of individual yearly training plans and long-term athlete plans with age progression benchmarks for each Next Gen athlete.
Develop strong relationships with all key stakeholders involved with athletes.
Lead coach mentorship initiatives within the Canadian Biathlon community.
Assist in the execution of the Gold Medal Profile education and training to the biathlon community in Canada.
Additional duties assigned by the Director of Development and High Performance or National Team Head Coach.
Competencies
Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
Excellent technical and tactical cross country skiing and/or biathlon expertise or experience.
Passion to teach and develop our nation's aspiring athletes and coaches in a high-performance team setting.
Lead the team in a positive and professional manner upholding the organization's values and safe sport principles.
Strategic thinker and task oriented planner to execute the yearly training plan.
Excellent communication skills in individual and group settings.
Capable computer skills for data solutions, analytics, video software, email, and word processing.
Must be competent to communicate in the English language. French language skills are an asset.
Biathlon coaching experience is an asset but not a prerequisite.

Working Conditions
Full Time position with regular travel both domestically and internationally.
Working outdoors in all conditions.
Based in Canmore, Alberta at the National Training Centre.
Working evenings and weekends. Overtime to be taken as Lieu as schedule permits
Requires good physical condition and cross-country skiing ability.
As a permanent full-time employee, the National Team Coach will be eligible for employee benefits in accordance with Biathlon Canada’s employee benefits policy. The salary range for this position is between $65,000 and $80,000.
A Typical Calendar Year for the National Team Coach:
May to October: Coaching the National Team in Canmore, AB and traveling to biathlon “hub” regions to coach camps and develop coaches.
November to March: Coaching on the IBU international circuit at the World Cup, IBU Cup, or Junior IBU Cup circuit (level to be determined by the Head Coach and DDHP).
