The Valdosta State Athletic Department is accepting applications for two graduate assistant positions. Graduate assistants will help promote the Blazers’ 12 NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletic programs. Valdosta State University is a member of the highly competitive Gulf South Conference and won the NCAA Division II National Championship in Football in December of 2018 and National Runner-Up in 2021.

The Athletic Administration Graduate Assistants will receive a monthly stipend in addition to tuition remission (not fees) and will gain experience in Facilities, Game Operations, Marketing, and Promotions.

Facilities/Game Operations responsibilities include, but not limited to, assisting the athletic administration with the management, administration and supervision of athletics facilities, athletic events including all aspects of game-day production, assisting in overseeing undergraduate 5th Year Aid students, and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities will be heavily involved with football, volleyball, soccer, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, and softball, and the maintenance/supervision of the corresponding facilities.

The Marketing/Promotions responsibilities include, but not limited to, assisting the athletic administration with developing and implementing marketing and sales plans for all sports with a focus on increasing overall attendance, student attendance and revenue. Preparing all aspects of game-day production and promotions, assisting with community outreach, helping coordinate events that coincide with athletic events and all VSU Athletics marketing efforts, and other duties as assigned. Athletic Administration Graduate Assistants will be involved with all twelve intercollegiate sports along with the competitive cheer and dance squads.

Appointment contingent on candidate being accepted to the VSU Graduate School in the program of the applicant’s choosing.  (Special consideration will be given to candidates interested in a M.Ed. in Higher Education Leadership.)  All graduate assistantships are renewable for two consecutive years (two years total). The 2^nd year appointment is contingent upon successful completion of GA duties and responsibilities which includes maintaining a minimum of six graduate credits each semester of assistantship and maintaining at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA.  The candidate appointed to the position will receive a yearly stipend of approximately $6000 in addition to a tuition waiver. This person must be willing and able to work daily office hours, nights, and weekends throughout the academic school year including vacation periods.  Some travel may be required in these positions.  Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree and valid driver’s license.  Preferred start date: August 1, 2023
