The person in this part-time position will manage all aspects of the program, including, but not limited to, practice planning, game preparation/scouting, in-game coaching, recruiting, budget management, scheduling, team travel (if applicable), equipment/apparel purchasing, staff supervision (if applicable), academic monitoring, and general supervision of student-athletes. The eSports coach will also provide input into the selection of games and tournaments in which to participate.
Department Specific Responsibilities
Oversees the development and launch of the varsity eSports program at Indiana University Kokomo. Recruits and retains student-athletes for the esports program Collaborates with the Office of Admissions for recruiting and enrolling prospective students-athletes Ensures that program recruiting, and activities adhere to University and NAIA policies and procedures Provides leadership for the team; establish coaching strategies and teaching methods to develop student-athletes’ skills and teamwork; analyze team performance and adjust strategies as needed Coordinates off-season practice and competition schedules Assists with team travel when necessary Running campus, clinics and promotional events (if applicable) Continuously ensuring personal behavior and program reputation are in alignment with University values and mission Monitors, assists, and nurtures student-athletes’ academic progress at the University Social media management including Twitter, Twitch, Instagram and Facebook Other duties as assigned by the athletic director
Bachelor’s degree required
Knowledge and experience across multiple games including but not limited to: League of Legends, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros, or similar games.
At least two years’ experience in coaching competitive eSports experience involving team-based multiplayer online video games
Ability to recruit prospective student-athletes (high school or transfers)
Ability to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, administrators, and professional colleagues
Proficient in written and oral communication skills
