This Strategic Communications and Engagement Fellow will be exposed to all areas within the Strategic Communications and Fan Engagement department. This includes Athletic Communications, Broadcasting, Feature Videos, Marketing and Social Strategies. This position is charged with working independently as well as collaboratively on projects that will contribute to the brand enhancement of Army West Point Athletics Association Inc. (“AWPAA”) and the United States Military Academy (“USMA”). This individual will be responsible for carrying out high level projects from ideation to implementation coordinating with internal and external staff and constituents.
The primary work environment for this position is in an office setting and on occasion will work in outdoor weather conditions (i.e., to attend/ assist events). The successful candidate can be expected to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time, lift up to 50 lbs, occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc, operate a computer, printer, and phone. The incumbent in this position will frequently communicate with employees, USMA staff and vendors.
Travel
Some team travel may be required for team coverage.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree or higher preferred
Two (2) years of relevant work/ graduate program/ internship/ volunteer experience within an intercollegiate athletics department or professional team
Excellent written and communication skills
Perform duties in a fast pace, ever changing environment
Strong interest and commitment to pursuing a career in strategic communications within an intercollegiate athletics department or professional team
Advanced skills using all Microsoft Office
Any one or combination of the following software / equipment:
Adobe InDesign and Photoshop software
Sidearm
Cinema-style and DSLR cameras, including Sony FS7 and FS9 cameras
Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop, etc.
Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays with some travel
