Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of full time experience working in an administrative capacity in a collegiate athletic department, professional sports program, public education athletic administration or special event/entertainment/concert profession. Customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Business, Sports Management, or related field. Experience in a collegiate or professional athletic setting or in a corporate sports marketing area. Experience reconciling cash, credit or check collections. Experience with a computerized ticketing software. Box office experience. Understanding of NCAA Compliance Rules (played a Division I, II or III sport, coached in collegiate athletics or as a staff member in a collegiate athletic program). Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google Applications.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Director of Fan Experience will lead the development and execution of the department wide marketing and public relations initiatives. This will include but not limited to year-long promotional efforts for 18 intercollegiate programs, coordination of game-day promotional activities and development of a comprehensive marketing plan to increase fan attendance and achieve ticket revenue/attendance goals as set forth by the Senior Management Team and/or the Director of Athletics. Specifically, the Director will be responsible for reaching attendance and ticket revenue goals for football, men's and women's basketball and men's and women's lacrosse. The Director will oversee all aspects of ticketing operations and serve as the marketing liaison to the Stony Brook University Community.
  • Marketing & Fan Experience
    • This position will direct and oversee the development and execution of the department wide marketing and public relations initiatives to include yearlong promotional efforts for 20 intercollegiate programs, coordination of game-day promotional activities and development of a comprehensive marketing plan to increase fan attendance and achieve ticket revenue/attendance goals as set forth by the Senior Management Team. Additional duties include the daily oversight of the marketing budget, which includes monitoring, projecting and identifying cost effective operational needs and direct oversight of Athletic Marketing staff. Develop, implement and execute a comprehensive marketing and ticket sales plan for all assigned sports, which includes outlining promotions and ticket sales strategies, with an emphasis on increasing revenue, raising attendance and enhancing in-game promotions to maximize the fan experience. The incumbent will also oversee the strategy and execution of the department's email messages by developing innovative concepts and targeting various potential fans. They are also responsible for all in-game marketing and promotions associated with assigned home athletic events, to include but not limited to: the production of run of the show timelines and public address scripts, operation and production of video boards, organization of in-venue music and time-out coordination with band, cheer and dance as well as activation of sponsorship requirements. Additionally, the Director will assist with the implementation of an advertising plan to increase awareness for revenue generating sports through print and electronic media, outdoor advertising, web content, community partners and social media platforms.
  • Stewardship
    • The Director will provide oversight for the cultivation and stewardship for Stony Brook season ticket holders and ticket buyers in support of the marketing and ticket sales strategies. The Director will develop special season ticket holder events to enhance the season ticket holder experience. The Director will also oversee the Ticket Office staff and assign them to be responsible for events on and off- campus in order to increase visibility of Stony Brook Athletic Programs. In these cases, the Director will be the responsible party for the event coordination and ticket sales associated with the event. This position will maintain and develop the philosophy and implementation of a more active stewardship program for the season ticket holders. In doing so they will be responsible for advising the staff of the objectives as well as educating, training and monitoring the overall plan in order to meet the end goals.
  • Supervision
    • The Director will oversee all aspects of the marketing and fan experience operation that will include full-time employees and students. The Director will be responsible for overseeing a valuable internship program in order to provide experience to the college students as well as staffing support during athletic events. They are also responsible for training and educating the contracted staff used at ticketed athletic events in order to ensure compliance with NCAA rules and University and department policies and procedures.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

Evening and weekend work will be required at times.
