Serves as a member of the Athletic Director's leadership staff, providing departmental leadership. Provides direct leadership over the Academic Support Services Unit for student-athletes, which includes managing academic, enrollment and tutoring services for over 370 athletes. Provides leadership over the Office of NCAA Compliance, with a goal of maintaining institutional control and developing appropriate monitoring, education and enforcement processes. Provides leadership in the areas of Sport Administration and the development of Western Michigan's NIL Program.
Supervises and manages a comprehensive student-athlete academic support services program for over 370 student-athletes. Supervises academic advisors, coordinates enrollment and academic advising and supervises tutoring and support efforts. Serves as institutional athletic department contact for NCAA Research data to include the collection and monitoring of APR and GSR.
Supervises and manages the department's Office of NCAA Compliance, developing systems to monitor, educate and enforce the appropriate NCAA, MAC, state and federal legislation relevant to the administration of a Division I Athletics Program. Ensures participation and financial aid compliance with Title IX legislation.
Serves as the athletic department liaison to relevant enrollment and eligibility functions, to include the admission of student-athletes, certification of eligibility and financial aid, the College Academic Advisors, the Office of Residence Life and Office of Dining Services. Manage rosters and eligibility information utilizing the appropriate NCAA and other software platforms.
Manages the athletic department's efforts to identify, nominate and pursue national awards opportunities for student-athletes, staff and coaches.
Serves as a member of the athletics leadership team, providing strategic direction on the affairs of the entire department of athletics.
Serves as the administrative leader of the department's Sport Supervision Team, providing streamlined policy and management of all sport programs. At the direction of the athletic director, serves as a sport supervisor for specific intercollegiate athletic programs.
Manages the Broncos' NIL program - with collaboration from the external operations team as well as the Broncos emPOWERed Office. Develops and administers policy in conjunction with state and NCAA guidance, creates a disclosure mechanism for student-athletes and seek new ways to grow and innovate within the NIL space.
Bachelor's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
Eight years' relevant experience.
Supervisory or lead experience.
Experience working within a university setting.
At least four years' demonstrated experience working in an intercollegiate athletics Division 1 setting.
Experience with academic advising.
Experience with National Collegiate Athletic Association compliance responsibilities.
Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including weekends and holidays.
Master's degree in related field from an accredited institution.
